Wedding Fair @ Saloma Bistro

fuh..after 5 weeks, this blog finally updated!

while everyone busy hitting Isetan for members sale during friday lunch hour , Mas & myself went to checkout wedding fair @ Saloma Bistro. the event was rather small, each booth can only display one wedding item (card/favor/photography etc) except pelamin cos NGI was the one having the exclusive right for pelamin & deco there.

there were 3 pelamins decorated solely by NGI there, but i didnt snap any..somehow each of the pelamin has nothing to really shout about cos i've seen his work better at previous exhibitions. but we both loved the entrance decoration he did...the white pokok & crystal drapes...imagine an evening event with this deco, marvellous... ;)

first booth we stopped by was Kak Haidar's, the one responsible for my wedding deco last time. the booth theme was Hantaran. we were more of catching up on each other rather than checking out her stuffs cos basically i already had the ideas of wedding items/services she's providing. the dulang hantaran she custom made for me was there too...but i wish to see them decorated in nicer way...with lots and lots of bright, colorful flowers maybe...something more eye-catching i told her ;p

next was Reka Teemor's. their theme was "Wedding Invitation". mostly the hardcovered were from Indonesia..with RT's known as having spectacular taste, so the range of hardcover they had from Indon are the pretty exclusive ones. the softcover cards too unlike the conventionally found in market, mostly having the plain, modern design specially custom made for their clients...with starting price of rm2.50..their softcovers not so much of my liking, apart from their price, personally due to the designs were overly being modernized/westernized..

but, i like one of their display...it's actually from Indonesia. nice tiffany blue! my soon getting married brother need some proposal for his wedding card this october...we'll see how much my previous cardmaker can offer for this design...hopefully below than my RM1.3x since this is just 1-pc card :)

Neurmaya was the one offering photography/videography service for this expo. first time seeing his work was in Ratu Sehari, and seem to notice more of him tagging to NGI's clients. the package is rather flexible...no outstation cost, no charges for future publish in media/mags, softcopies for both raw and edited will be returned without any extra cost etc..

Gezal Mihat & Freda took part for dresses. we didnt ask any quo cos no one was there...some of the lovelies found :

next to them is Cocoa Boutique, offering wedding favors made from chocs. i didnt try any of their chocs, so obviously no comment ;) i kinda like chocs they printed with our wedding details & nicely arranged in a wooden box found similar at Godiva...price RM150 and this packaging they purposely made for hantaran. sorry no pix, camera out of battery dah!

last one was Yomie Bake, based in Kajang. for 3-tiers full fondant cake starts rm900, if dummy usually half the price. so, note that not all bakers charging similar price for full cake & dummy, anything back to your budget and preference, the option is there :) their fancy cookies rm3+, the cookies tebal gile so i guess the price justifies..of all, their minis interest me more, be it for design and price..rm15/each. again, no pic but most of the designs were similarly published in their blog :)

the rest booths were Concorde weddings, accessories..we already late, so no chance to drop by..just sempat snap this at Concorde booth to feast your eyes :)

btw, my reception album dah siap since April but we yet to collect from CS. and i've received my bertandang album too...3 months waiting not that bad!:)

Pameran Pengantin 2009

Was on leave yesterday, had the chance to visit Pameran Pengantin in midvalley. Pelamin di entrance sgt cute, with home miniature backdrop & little birdies by Rins Suzana. Somehow, i feel tahun ni tidak semeriah dulu & halls pun not fully occupied. NGI occupied 4 booths, with his gigantic pelamin nikah (at 5-figures RM!) im not really a fan of royale-type pelamin he had, but shades of pink used, mmg drooling!

Lots of new faces joining, prices not that competitive, except they have lots of freebies to offer & result of some pun cantik jugak e.g. Dina Halim's white pelamin, with my fave shaggy carpet (booth 58 & 67). guna artificial je, but i like flower arrangement at both sides, siap ada tumbuhan hijau kecil yang comel di bawah tu. and those tiny candle stands too! panel pelamin pun unik, cos hujung nya melengkung sikit. Visit kali ini hanyalah berjaya mendapatkan decorator for his hantaran :)

Was late for appoinment with CT Catering that evening, sesat. Hall dah siap setup by then :P Fiance arrived by 8pm and we stay sampai majlis selesai, giving ideas how event typically going at our hall. We had problem with their opened doors & lighting, there's still room for discussion later. Regarding food, we pretty satisfied and Uyaa was right, their rendang daging sangat sedap :)

Promosi Kerja Kahwin 2009

i had appoinment with our bertandang decorator last Saturday, fiance couldn't make it as he had courses to attend in Shah Alam. the plan was supposed to bring our decorator for site visit to our hall to estimate right size of pelamin and layout for meja pengantin etc. the plan changed, where instead, we had our discussion at the expo, as she was on duty that day and it took almost 4hrs to list down the detail & ideas to fit our small budget tu hehe..

she had lots of sweet pink shades theme as reference, and i love most of them. good news, she had fuschia ribbon for my guest chairs too :) for time being, the confirmed package will include pelamin, walkway, entrance arch and main table deco.

only on Sunday i managed to drop by other booths. the expo wasn't bad afterall, no more kerawang pelamin on parade but the trend of black damask now becoming somewhat - stereotype? i dont despise damask design, the idea of having black damask as pelamin backdrop is my big turn-off :( hmm, apa kes kerusi pengantin pun nak black damask, kan hehe!

i found caterer which below our budget too :) for rm20/pax, you can afford dome style seating inclusive of :

- menu including ayam, daging & ikan in one go!
- mineral water, fruits, dessert and coffee/tea served
- dome, napkin & highball glass (you can upgrade to goblet glass with some charges)
- meja + alas + themed table top
- banquet chair + sarung + themed ribbon
- red carpet
- 6 stands of fresh flowers
- menu card for all table
- meja pengantin & deco for 10-12 pax (fresh flowers)
- 4 VIP tables
- pelayan tetamu
- food testing for 5 pax

their SA will provide new quo as i no longer need items in red above. will reconfirm the waiters:tables ratio, just to ensure guests are timely served. unlike few caterers, they also allow pre-booking food testing prior to placing any deposit. 2 org je, and we booked for next week as they have a kenduri kahwin to cater. i'll review the outcome later.

i've been a frequent goer to wedding fair, ever since i bumped to my own engagement (and later wedding) planning. and again, last Saturday, we went to Pameran Pengantin @ the Mall but this time with Fira joining us. For all i know, Fira was never been excited about her wedding until she met ezi & myself, her uni mates now cum the busy bridezillas, haha. and there we started to plan each and every detail of her black & hot pink wedding. excited, excited hehe.

we were welcomed with a nice pelamin at the entrance. love the chandelier & the big sofa. brides nowadays seem to love those big & high back seats, kan? more comfy i guess.

i was still on catering hunting, and for now we're quite satisfied with CT Catering & Suri Catering package for dome seating dinner. all we wanted came with less than rm30 p/head, not bad for established caterers ehhe.

Pameran Pengantin - personal review!

i owed something. if not to you the bride-to-be loyal readers, it must be to my very own wedding blog. i didnt write anything yet about my last visit to Pameran Pengantin held at Plaza Alam Sentral . dah basi kan ehhe.

i didnt expect much, really. i just love to pay a visit to any wedding exhibition - just to get the latest trends in wedding & of course, the price range they could offer :)

this time around, my survey was more on catering & pelamin, hall deco for our God-knows-when majlis bertandang. Shah Alam is our preferred location since they could offer nice hall at quite affordable rental, and we also have shortlisted this one hall *wink* since it's majlis bertandang, we would prefer smaller crowd, about 500 pax. and preferred setting is seated dome-style, if within budget ;)

cheapest that we've got? rm25 p/pax not including kerusi & meja, cos the beloved hall dah provide meja & kerusi banquet best..best. we requested no deco at all by caterer. we planned the deco to be outsourced to only one designer together with pelamin - just to ensure everything synchronize with the theme. and theme doesnt limit to COLOR, okay. this is no joke, brideys - SYNCHRONIZATION is something to be assured of.

for pelamin, the choice was Debunga! love the elegant dark panels and they've great portfolio, too(not in their webbie). quotation pun boleh tahan la, selagi fits the budget kan hehe. oh anyway, pelamin from Creative Elements pun cantik, but tropical/nusantara signature just NOT my thing, esp for banquet reception - cos i'd rather spend such amount for more and moreee flowers hihi..! but for home pelamin nikah, yup tropical thingy is indeed nice one to invest, like below :)

for baju pengantin, dotty boleh adore yang ni for his wear..? err, i told him (of course with teasing look) "well, if you dare enuff to wear this, you must be generous enuff to spend me any dress from Jovian or Cosry right.." GET IT? Synchronization, again. Oh btw, the outfit from Indonesian boutique, now opening her home-based in Subang Jaya. And the rest were part of her collection too. My Zafira got the quotation rm3.7k for 3 psg dress pengantin from that lady and she asked me the worthiness. simple. minus the akad nikah outfit, pls - cos the design's too much for nikah in our kampung, and lengan jarang2? honey, think about the nikah guests too, ya ;)

Pameran Pengantin 2009

after a rushing morning @ gym, dotty & myself finally made our way to Pameran Pengantin 2009 Ampang Point. we didnt expect much cos we've been to similar one in Plaza Alam Sentral last time. heavy rain, traffic jam, parking full etc - not really worth going, i must say :)

some i could conclude :

1) Bridal wear
definitely LyndaRahim's. been admiring the white kurung with colorful beadings for so long. haih mesti by my time, design tu dah outdated kan..

2) Dais
Arjuna Cipta won my heart. think whites.think crystals. and bunga sundal malam.

3) Doorgift
Dinigift, still. The rest macam tak banyak choice. I'm fine with homemade chocs, but box tu jangan la kasi yang cikai sangat kan?

4) Cupcakes
Nothing really impressed me. sorry to say, the bakers were just there for the sake of participating not into business, really. dah tahu nak display kt exhibition, letak la design yang berseni sikit. blah.

5) Photographer
Ade pun 2-3 je and Adan lah kut plg ok. honestly, im not a fan of one. gamba cantik but album dier kureng. masih tahap2 album kilat yang snang lekat cap jari tu. official photog Siti tu huhu.

6) Catering
No comment cos i x food testing pun even they did offer..masih kekenyangan :P

7) Reception hall
almost heart attack when i saw Dewan Tun Rahah's new package. i always considered their package as most value for money dulu2 cos rm25++ je dah boleh dpt dome style and it doesnt come with ridiculous pelamin, cake, doorgift. but now? cheapest dome is rm50++ p/head with pelamin. nooooo!!! rate tu dh mcm dewan perdana felda ok? (which pelamin is like worst ever being invented!!). if nak sewa dewan tun rahah je, rm10k. gosh?! tepakse la ubah our wedding plan ni sob sob.

that Tun Rahah news seriously was not a good one and i need something to R&R my frustration hehehe. maka, burn jua lah few hundreds for my first Marc Jacob's. new shade, ala2 Paris Hilton. perasan gile :P

also bought myself new GUESS bracelet watch. Tissot discount sikit sgt, so x mampu...

somehow this caught my attention !

Pameran Pengantin 2008

finally my long waited Pameran Pengantin 2008 in midvalley from 4-7 July 08!! me & dotty woke up early ok, tanak lame2 cari parking lah, mkn cepat2 lah kunun haha..beria2, but at last kul 1 gak br masuk that fair.

the good part of this time wedding fair is, the target crowd is malay hee..before this, lots of chinese ones, expensive and lots of gowns which i dont really fancy for my wedding.

ok, that's the good part. but the best part is ---- lots of famous designers, photographers, decorators were here, giving their best price to lucky ones.to name a few; candidsyndrome, prettypeektures, jovian mandagie, nas great idea, pak abu etc.

me & dotty were actually looking for 'ideas' for our coming engagement. nothing much actually cos most of em will be at penang side. tapi sempat jugak tu we berangan on our far-away-wedding, cam biase la i lebih2 hihi...

let's get started..

bridal wear
my fave will always be jovian mandagie, whose work very much inspired by his indonesian culture. his white lacey wedding dress, with heavy shining beads enough to keep me speechlessly standing, and again to realize for countless times that i cant afford it...! (even the price gone down to rm4k after 50% discount huhu). the next best thing? lavish french lace dress from Glam Collection (sponsor for Dynas' wedding). rm1.5k sepasang with accessories. cantik gile.......yang ini boleh la masuk dlm list yeyeay...

photography

CandidSyndrome still the best, partnering with Jovian for dress+photo package (rm6k). CS offerred rm1488, covering the wedding photoshoot & 10"x12" storybook album. best2, nasib baik lambat lagi. if not x pasal2 ade jugak yang melayang 30% deposit hehe..!! videography mostly rm1k++. penang rm600 je, jgn marah.

invitation card

went to this one booth, the salesgirl is very sombong but the hardcovered cards are pretty, but a little expensive. next stop was LH Creative where i met my long-lost friend, mimi. her kenduri will be in nov, no wonder la ko busy skarang ye~ this booth ramai gile org, the cards are selling cheap & designs were damn niceee...hardcovered rm2.50 je but min order is 500. really fancy this simple white card with silver font, 80cents je...murahnye..cop!!

dais

nas great idea la the greatestttt...and as usual good things dont come cheap :) cheapest they can offer for dais in house is rm3k++. hall starting from rm5-6k if x mistaken, remember STARTING. but one thing i found out about them, they wont repeat any design to the next customer even how much you're dying for that. wow, they really mean "exclusive" here.my budget just rm1.5k & already found some vendors who can fit the theme that i want with our budget *wink* but for now, i'm more on mini pelamin for engagement. cantik kan mini pelamin from zaifie & fathinz ni? (above)

KL wedding expo 20-22/6/08

after sha's wedding, me, dotty & lion went to KL wedding expo (mvalley). not much to look for since most of the vendors cater for non-malay wedding. and another thing, there are lots of hotels having their booth to promote their wedding banquet & package hoho not our budget definitely.

just managed to buy 2copies of Ratu Sehari (and get 3 free copies of Bridal Guide mag yeay). There flew my 30bux but love the mags so much since they featured lots and lots of pelamin from Nas Great Idea!

then we dropped by to jewellery shop jeng jeng jeng...cont later k cos dah lapa nasik...
